Who We Are

This privacy policy explains how TorontoPlumber.com handles website information, including comments, cookies and registered user details.

Comments

When you leave a comment, we collect the comment form details, your IP address and browser information to help identify spam.

An anonymized string, or hash, created from your email address may be sent to Gravatar to check whether you use its service. See the Gravatar provider’s privacy policy for details. After approval, your profile image may appear publicly alongside your comment.

Uploaded Images

Before uploading images, check for embedded location information, including EXIF GPS data. Visitors may be able to download an image and extract that information.

Cookies

When commenting, you may choose to store your name, email address and website in cookies. These remain for one year, so you do not need to enter the same details again.

The login page sets a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal information and is removed when you close the browser.

After sign-in, login cookies last two days and display-preference cookies last one year. Selecting “Remember Me” extends login to two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.

Editing or publishing an article adds a cookie containing its post ID. It contains no personal information and expires after one day.

Content From Other Websites

Pages may include embedded videos, images or other content from external websites. Those providers may collect information as if you had visited their websites directly.

External websites may use cookies and tracking tools to monitor your interaction. If you are signed into an account with a provider, it may associate that activity with your account.

Password Reset Information

If you request a password reset, the reset email includes your IP address.

How Long Information Is Kept

Comments and their associated information are kept indefinitely. This helps recognize and approve follow-up comments more easily.

Where user registration is available, we store the information in user profiles. Registered users can view, edit or delete their profile details, except their username. Website administrators can also view and edit this information.

Requests About Your Information

If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an export of your personal information held by the website. You may also request deletion.

Information needed for administrative, legal or security reasons may need to be retained. For questions about this policy, contact Toronto Plumber.

Spam Detection

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam-detection service.
